Weekend at the Cabin

Got an early start last Friday to get down to the cabin with the mutts. Kim went to Louisville to assist daughter to "organize" her Summer/Winter clothes.
Picked up some chicken and pork chops to fry for snacking on this week. This time I used " good ole fashioned LARD". Yep....it did make it taste better. I followed the advise of a friend for making gravy...and it turned out great! I made plenty, so the mutts got some poured over their dry dogfood.
It was first day of Deer Hunting with Primitive Weapons. Couple of the hunters got lucky. I'm not a hunter myself, but, support those that do. Mutts had a good time chasing away three deer off the field in front of the cabin.
Got to catch up on my NetFlix DVDs, bunch of reading, slept late, and took a couple of naps. Life can be just too hard to handle at times!
Did get to get out Friday and Saturday to shoot the pictures shown on the previous video clip.

  2. I've never had anything cooked with lard.
I would like a cabin. Sounds like a great weekend.

  3. Yep, it was cream gravy with scapins. The Lard seems to bring out the flavor more in the meat and the crust.

  4. Every time you write about one of your getaways to your cabin I wish I had such a place, Dave.

I'd be about as happy with a permanent camping spot upon which I could keep a tent pitched year-round. It'd have to have lots of trees, a river close by, and not a lot of folks around to break up the peace and quiet; know any places like that???

    ...and fine dining to boot???

Man alive, Dave--you have it made!!!
